Over the course of three days, our Teachers Institute equips teachers with an arsenal of tools, skills and strategies to put to use right away. Powerful classroom observation, collaborative group work, and a clear action plan for implementation set this institute apart.
The Powerful Teaching and Learning (PTL) Teachers Institute provides participants with the tools and knowledge to align instruction with research-based best practices that work for all students—across all content areas. These practices are what we call, “Powerful Teaching and Learning.”
By providing sustainable, research-based teaching strategies for differentiating instruction, PTL’s Teachers Institute helps classroom teachers meet the diverse needs of today’s learners. The institute focuses on strategies for increasing student participation and engagement and helps teachers develop and nurture a classroom culture of curiosity and enthusiasm.
Teachers work with colleagues to reflect, discuss, and deepen awareness of Powerful Teaching and Learning. They create personal plans of action to meet self-selected goals and work together to seek new knowledge and apply new skills as they participate in the institute.
The PTL learning process is designed to reflect what we know to be best practices in professional development—the focus is on collaboration. Learning together and learning from one another over a period of time are hallmarks of our institute.
One of the unique features of the institute is the opportunity to observe with colleagues in real life classrooms. On the second day of the three day training, teams of 4 teachers spend a full day with a Certified PTL Coach, observing other teachers and reflecting on their own practices together with the team and the guidance of the coach.
Participants spend the other two days together for whole group training working in groups to deepen understanding of Powerful Teaching and Learning practices, identify individual goals and develop plans for implementing new strategies.
During the three days, teachers will have an opportunity to identify, hone, discuss, and reflect upon best classroom practices. Teachers will have an opportunity to learn how to improve student relationships, engage students in higher-level thinking, and develop strategies to create relevant conceptual understanding of the content. Participants will learn how to create and maintain professional learning communities in order to sustain the knowledge and tools garnered from the Teachers Institute.
*The in-district day rate includes two days of training but does not include guided observation days. It is assumed that these districts have trained internal Coaches and are planning on leading their own teams for the necessary observations. This special rate covers up to 30 participants - additional participants will require extra trainers. If you have more than 30 participants please contact us directly to discuss pricing.
